The Problem with Promotion Part II: You Have to Send Out News ReRead the article this discussion is about
This archived discussion is "read only".
» WebbQuest - WISE WORDS Hi Deborah!I am writing a teen book / potential series with best-selling Irish author Sarah Webb (ironically as my name is Sara Webb Quest). I find all you say here to be true and helpful. Sarah writes articles for Irish papers and magazines and has a beautiful newsletter she sounds out to her readers. She also launches books, hosts book events, and appears regularly on an Irish TV show, The Den -- in the name of promoting her book interests. Here’s something to add however: She also co-authors fictional anthologies with other women’s-fiction authors in the name of children’s funds and charity. Irish Girls in Town is an example and has become a best-seller -- posted by WebbQuest » Yee - Re: WISE WORDS In response to message posted by WebbQuest:Thanks, Sara, for YOUR wise words. It's always useful to hear how others go about the business of promotion. It's interesting that you should mention how your co-author (the other Sarah Webb!!!) is contributing to charity through her writing. I too I am doing that with THE RAVEN'S POOL. Because my agent died from breast cancer and my mother is a breast cancer surviver, I am donating one dollar from the sale of each copy of THE RAVEN'S POOL to Breast Cancer Research. Good Luck with your book! That must have been painful for you and I can't think of a more appropriate way of healing than devoting your book and part of your aims to cancer research! By the way, how wonderful your mother is a survivor!! You just don't hear that often. Thanks so much for providing this wonderful column. I have subscribed to it for ages and am impressed with your articles and research! -- posted by WebbQuest » Yee - Re: Re: Re: WISE WORDS In response to message posted by WebbQuest:Sara, Thanks. I appreciate your kind words. Yes, it was very painful for me, but life goes on and I do love writing, and writing about the process of writing. In the future I intend to look for another agent, but not for that book. I'm glad you've found this topic useful. I enjoy researching and writing the articles. The whole process is mystifying!
