» Cairo2003 - World War 2: Nazi Germany's final hope, Vengeance Weapons

As one of the most interesting subject i have ever happened to come across. Nazi Germany's final hope, the Vengeance Weapons or V-1 and V-2 rockets, was a topic i could not have said no too.

The V-1 rockets was a robot, pilotless drone used to send a heavy amount of explosives to an highly enemy controlled area. Much like the US predator research which was able to be used early last year (2001). It was a very noisy and fearful project. Adolf Hitler was very displeased by the outcome of the V-1 rocket and disbanded it after many unsuccessful launches. In the battle of Britain Germany launched around 9,000 of these rocket and with only a success rate of 50% proved to be highly unreliable. Nazi Germany could use this weapon to weaken key Allied areas, but not win the war.

The V-2 weapon was a little more reliable, however it also proved to be unreliable. Using a transportable launching site it was able to launch it's shell farther and anywhere it was placed. It was a large and highly visible target for air and infantry enemies. It was very silent until it smashed into its target. Hitler was more pleased with this rocket then the previous V-1. Allied Air supremacy was all that stood between the V-2 and German victory. The huge launching pad for the V-2 rocket was not only visible to land infantry, but most importantly visible to aircraft. Allied bombers and fighters were quick to find and exterminate the launch sits leaving the V-2 rocket and V-1 rocket ineffective for the German victory.
