» densierevelli - Cleaning Service

I am thinking of starting a cleaning service in my area. I have a woman who has a 40 year history in that industry and really knows what she's doing. I don't know anything about how to get started, should I bond, how much to pay people (she's always worked alone, so doesn't know how much people are paid).

Is there anyone out there who can help?

Denise

I have been in the business for 12 years and have had most of my clients for that many years.

I use the clients because most people have pets and that stuff makes it way around to everyone else's house. I use the clients products. I also charge an average of $20.00 an hour I am in no ones house longer than 3 hours, M-F, 2 to 3 houses/apt a day. I do very well my clients are great. I also do the pet sitting thing. They do love it. The animals already know me and the clients trust me. I too do "extras" for those that leave me tips but they all so good that I always do extra things at times for everyone. I would never hire a service I use to work for two of them and most people working for them just have the job because they couldn't find anything else to do. ( was a supervisor very quick). Tips at Christmas or end of the year really let your cleaning person know that you appreciate them.

In response to message posted by kiki35:

You sound like a very conscientious worker and seem to go a lot of extras that a rotating cleaning crew will not do.

Having the same clients for many years is a good sign they are happy with you. Your hard work does pay off by having steady work and satisfied clients.

Something extra at Christmas is certainly in order.

Thanks for reminding other families who have house cleaners. smile

Unfortunately, those house cleaners working alone are becoming a thing of the past for the more experienced customers. Everyone is short on time these days and your future customers will have used many services to find exactly what they want.

If you're really interested in starting a house cleaning "business", you need to educate yourself on the issues you will encounter, what customers want and the business issues unique to the cleaning trade.

Don't be fooled by those that tell you how easy it is. I was an educated "customer" when I started my business because I just couldn't find anyone that would do the job the way they promised.

And still I ran into a lot of surprises! Feel free to pickup memaile eCourse if you're still interested.

To Your Success!
