» RVLifestyle - Write a Column ...

... you are right, this is doable! I am not qualified as a work-at-home-parent since all my kids are now grown, but I have worked full-time at a regular job and moonlighted from home for most of the last ten years.

Currently, my husband and I live in our 35' motorhome and travel the company with our "day jobs". I am doing more freelance writing, building towards the day that I won't need a "day job".

To this end, I picked up a local freebie newspaper for the senior market. After scanning through it, I realized that my background in computers could help me sell a column for their target audience using my almost 25 years of experience with computers. So, I wrote an intro column, attached it to a query letter in which I talked about how my column would help promote the goals of the newspaper and fired it off.

Within 5 days I was committed to a monthly column with one-time rights (which means I am free to sell the columns to other, non-competing markets)! I get paid the princely sum of $35 for each column which generally takes me 1-2 hours to write & edit. Not bad per hour!

If I hadn't tried - I wouldn't have the column.
