» JohnRutherford - Re: Woman of the Year 2002

In response to message posted by KatieAnne:

My vote for woman of the year is Senator Hillery Clinton. She has hit the US Senate by storm representing New York. She has been a great leader for her state and the country in the aftermath of 9-11. She was also an outstanding firstlady and conducted herself with dignity in difficult times and worked to hold her family together. She says she will not be a candidate for president in 2004, but with that said, is still polling second to Al Gore for the Democratic nod.

My contact email is jrutherford13@hotmail.com

In response to message posted by JohnRutherford:

I would vote for Elizabeth Dole. She has just done so much for the United States - heading up the Red Cross. What an amazing organization to be associated with - the good work they do throughout the country. I would rather see her in the White House than her husband!

Carly Fiorina

She took on the old boy network of CEO's and she took over Compaq Computer as CEO of Hewlett Packard. She is ahead of the integration goals and seems to be winning the respect of stock analysts.

I am told the finest and most comprehensive article on Condoleeza Rice can be found in The New Yorker Oct 14, 2002.

As someone from the under represented sex here, I took the liberty of two nominations... Affirmative action, right? smile

» JAnn5 - Who is it going to be.....

Martha Stewart. No, no, It's just a joke! I think I'm also going to have to go with Hillary Clinton. She's the first woman who popped in my head when thinking for the title. She's a fantastic role model for young women and has great potential and qualities about herself. She is a leader.

» KatieAnne - AND WE HAVE A WINNER!

In response to message posted by KatieAnne:

Sorry for the delay in announcing a contest winner. The morning sickness fairy has been a frequent caller at my home in the past few months and has only recently stopped harrassing me! A winner has been picked at random and as soon as I receive confirmation that the email address I have is valid and the winner contactable, I will announce their name in the bulletin section here at Women's History.

Thanks to all who entered the contest.
