» MyGrammie - Delightfully Entertaining

Hi Karen,
What fascinating tidbits. I was aware of some, and pleasantly surprised by the poppy wallpaper and the jello for the horses' different colors.
Thanks for sharing.

I second Grammy's sentiments. I love all this Oz trivia. I didn't know about the poppy wallpaper. Next time I will look more closely.
Are you familiar with the urban legend about the hanging munchkin? There's a site online where you can download the clip to which everyone is referring to. You need to have Real player to view it. Kind of creepy, because it's in b & w. I don't know how anyone could mistake a stork for a hanging munchkin.
I loved the bit about the ruby slippers made of real rubies. Any idea where they are now? Do you know how many ruby slippers were made for the movie? Just wondering.
As always, I enjoy and look forward to your articles.
Best,
marie

In response to message posted by katrinko:

Hi, Marie! A while back, I wrote an article about the myth of the hanging Munchkin, as well as other common Oz urban legends. You can find it here: Drunk Munchkins … and Other Stories

As for the Ruby Slippers ... according to the "Ruby Slipper Fan Club" web site, there are five pairs of the shoes that exist today, including one "test" pair designed in an odd, Arabian style. These were never used, and are now owned by Debbie Reynolds. You can find a link to the fan club in the "Oz and Ends" section of links on this topic. I've searched for more info on the Harry Winston slippers, but I can't find what became of them. Anyone else know?

Thanks for visiting and posting!
