I'm glad to see a fresh article from you, Mel. And a delightful topic. The Northern Parula is a beautiful bird, but I've only seen one two or three times when I went to Point Pelee National Park (Ontario) to observe the mass migration of songbirds across Lake Erie. This species is the only one of about 15 warbler species that should nest in the vicinity of my cottage near Algonquin Park in Central Ontario, but which I have never observed there. There's certainly no shortage of lichen on the trees, so I wonder where the Parulas are.
