Mel do you know how to make those seed bells for wild birds? They are expensive to buy, but it's fun to hang one in a tree and watch all the parrots etc. tuck in.Mary

I've heard a couple of different recipes for seed bells -- the easies is to use suet or lard and mix with sunflower seeds and peanuts and millet and press into a mold.It's messy, but good for wintering birds!
Since Texas winters are so mild, I simply feed the black oil sunflower seeds from the sunflowers I've planted in the summer. It takes a bunch of sunflowers, though (about 30) to last through the winter.
