» greggpasterick - Re: potting wildflowers In response to message posted by sherri125:Hi Sherri, Hmmm...I've never tried to "tame" a wildflower in a container. I was fortunate to live in an area where I could let stuff grow. So...anything's worth a shot, yes? They are biennials, so I imagine you'd wanna be sure what you pot is in its second year, so it will flower. Since they were originally prairie flowers, well, that would imply drought tolerant and perhaps a lengthy taproot that would be able to find water deep in the soil during a drought...so maybe they need more root room to flourish than what a pot can provide. I still say try it...! Lemme know how it grows/goes. -- posted by greggpasterick » lauram83 - Re: potting wildflowers Sherri,Ihave beautiful black-eyed Susans growing right now in a pot and it has bloomed once in the summer, but now it has even more beautiful blooms. This it's first season and it's doing great. I usually never have luck with blooms in my pots. -- posted by lauram83 » greggpasterick - Re: back-eyed susans and day lilys..please help In response to back-eyed susans and day lilys..please help posted by lauram83:Hi Laura... Sorry for the delay in replyin'; my wife and I are on the road, drivin' from West Glacier, MT down to Joshua Tree, in the California desert. Potted day-lilies and black-eyed susans, hmmm. I've not done a lotta potted garden plants. Are ya leavin' 'em outside? If so, ya probably should make sure to wrap the pots to keep 'em warm, otherwise the roots'll freeze. If yer takin' 'em in, you should probably keep them in a dark, cool place so that they can rest during the winter... I think I would take them in... Lemme know what ya do, and how it works... -- posted by greggpasterick » greggpasterick - Re: indoor orchids In response to indoor orchids posted by lauram83:Get an orchid book!!! If we didn't travel so much, my wife and I would try our hand at orchids. But we move so much ... this is our third move this year... Good luck with those orchids... -- posted by greggpasterick
