» jerrib - Paintbrushes were

my favorite flower as a kid, leering out the window, on family drives. (I grew up in a family of four kids and was lucky enough to get a window seat in our car. Now kids grow up in vans and SUV'S!) They were always so colorful and plentiful. We had them along the road in the country neighborhood where I grew up.
Evidently not these varieties, though.

Hope you're enjoying this glorious weather!

In response to message posted by jerrib:

Ya know,

I never saw paintbrush until three years ago, in the Blue ridge Mts of NC. I think that may be the only eastern species!

Then we moved to Donner summit, in the Sierra Nevadas and we had Applegate's Paintbrush all over the place.

And then a year after that we begin our California wildflower adventures while in Long Beach and see several more species...

And now, up here in the Pacific NW we are seeing still more species! You will, of course, read about those next June and/or July...

Peace!
