An excellent article Josie. It is unfortunate that the greatest foe, of this beautiful animal, is very likely humans. Its shy nature and generally remote habitat offer only limited protection from the wily habits of our race.I have seen the animal in the wild in a true wintry environment. Hidden in snow-laden shrubbery, in the midst of a spruce forest, the cat eyes held my gaze at a distance of sixteen metres. I never detected fear in those eyes nor was there a sense of aggression. I felt we assessed each others strengths and weaknesses and silently declared a truce, before my snowshoes carried me away.
