» riverc0il - HHH Day

Your recent story on the Osceola's brought some memories back to me that I can finally laugh about! I don't think anyone hiking on June 16 of this year had much fun!

I was off tackling Whiteface/Passaconaway on that day, and the bugs and HHH effects were aweful! I only did Whiteface. After hiking Rollins to Dicey Mill, I decided I had enough.

Osceola's are beautiful, I had done that hike a week earlier to that aweful day doing the Greeley Pond Loop coming up East O from the other side. Great story and writing!

Lessons learned: Don't leave your pack behind. Don't rely too much on passers-by when asking. "How far?" I know I have given out incorrect answers though not intentionally to that question. FSD

» regiggii - The Osceolas.....

Yeah I was Just up there, this weekend, the 29th, and I did both of'em. Seemed to be a really over-hiked trail, the views from Osceola Proper were great-the trail up took maybe 90 minutes, and then another 35 or so to East Osceola. The chimney was no big deal, I simply took the 'alternate' route. East Osceola is like Quaggy Joe in Presque Isle-big deal. Lotsa woods and steep. But it was worth it. I did the hike in 85 degree weather, 5 hours total.
