Your past two articles have got me wanting a DVD player! I never thought I would crave one so I could watch wide-screen Westerns though. I tell ya'. You make a good point though--DVDs often provide an excellent way to learn about the making of a movie, and sometimes that's a good thing. Oh--I'm also enjoying your thoughts on these movies.

In response to message posted by kcruver:

I was very anti-DVD, probably cause it gave my friends an excuse to sit and watch The Matrix ten billion times--but no doubt about it, DVD is a great, great thing. It makes you realize just how important sound is to any film, even if it doesn't involve upside-down-machine-gun-karate chopping. Plus I'm addicted to making-of documentaries! The best I've ever seen is "Burden of Dreams" by Les Blank--about Herzog's "Fitcarraldo." Maybe one of the best documentaries ever.
