» Barbara Bell - St. David's Day? Excuse me for going a little off topic, Sarah, but I was hoping someone (either you or Ian MacWatt) would write about St. David, whose holiday I believe just passed. He needs some good PR, as St. Patrick gets so much!-- posted by Barbara Bell » celfydd - Re: St. David's Day? In response to message posted by bici:You're right about that! In fact, I did consider writing about St. David for the article I just posted, since St. David's Day was March 1st. I got so busy this month, though, that I didn't even have a chance to post a bulletin about it like I did last year. I do know of a really informative website about St. David, if you want to know more: http://www.sucs.swan.ac.uk/~rhys/stdavid... I was thinking of doing next month's article about Spring traditions in Wales; I could talk a bit about St. David's Day then. And I'm sorry it took me a little while to reply to your posting. I'm not used to getting messages on my discussion board, so I don't check too often these days! ;) Thanks for the suggestion! -- posted by celfydd » Barbara Bell - Re: Re: St. David's Day? In response to message posted by celfydd:I do wish it were more fashionable to wear a leek than a shamrock! -- posted by Barbara Bell » celfydd - Re: Re: Re: St. David's Day? In response to message posted by bici:Even better than a leek OR a shamrock, why not wear a daffodil? Daffodils, too, are associated with springtime and St. David's Day in Wales, in part because of the similarity of their Welsh name to the name for leeks: Leeks are cennin, while daffodils are called cennin Pedr or cenhinen Bedr. I've been quoting Wordsworth's "Daffodils" to everyone this week...maybe it's the Welsh in me? -- posted by Barbara Bell
