» Dan_Ellsworth - Darlene at "Holistic"

They're scribbling like mad over at Holistic Alternatives now that Darlene Cheek is back from two years out of computer-reach.

Others from years past showed up, including Deb TT in this message. LadyB, what made me think of you was her mention of people finding healing in her garden. Somehow, that brought you to mind, even though at times, I guess, the world is your garden.

I've titled this discussion area so that other instances of "gone and back" can be handled.

Which reminds me ... but that can be a new message in this series.

Anyway, apparently they're having quite a reunion over at Darlene's place.

» Dan_Ellsworth - Diana, "Enabled"

When I married Judy in 1967, I became "Instant Uncle" to sixteen (approximately) very interesting children and youth. One of these was Diana Brown, later Diana Pederson, who recruited me to Suite 101 sometime in the previous century. Physical limitations (long story) kept her from doing things easily in a garden, but she learned, developed her topic, changing topic name as needed, left Suite101.com, and is recently back with "The Enabled Gardener. Although she writes clearly enough that even I, a dedicated NON-gardener with no botany classes, can read it, she is fully capable of using the Latin names of plants and meaning them, which is one of the scariest things intellectually for me since my preacher-scholar cousin had a Greek ball for his Selectric typewriter. Anyway, Diana knows stuff and she's back.

In response to message posted by Dan_Ellsworth:

When am I going to quit responding to you with THANK YOU , BROTHER DAN'L!!!! but you just SET ME UP for it.....I feel like I've been gone too, just didn't officially let the thread snap. I've got HUGE gaps in my article list. Got one in the works, just have to snuffle some more links for it.

PART of what's been calling for my time is being a main character over at Susun Weed's Wise Woman Forum (talk about a HEALING GARDEN!!)
http://www.herbshealing.com/weedforum
What's SO astonishing is that THIS collection of women from ALL over the planet are addressing just EVERYthing I've done over the years...from being a professional gardener, to being a Lyme Survivor (yay) to BellyDancing, to Menopause, to being a GRANDMOTHER, to sinus horrors, to how to know when the Motherwort is ready...it's VERY satisfying.

But we haven't yet gotten to screeching grass....WE USED TO DRIVE MY MOTHER OUT OF HER *MIND* with that....especially sneaking one INTO the house and then letting it rip.....For a little kid, it's a real first feeling of POWER. And we had GOOD crabgrass for it.....(you just bring up the BEST STUFF, Dan.....)

So, as usual, I have just a cupful of time here to pull myself together, make some phone calls and get over and hold court as Cold Spring's Resident Herbalist at the Health Food Store.

later!
