cindy@rbs4u.com asks...

"Does the weather effect how we age? Is aging and not being in well health make us feel like we've weathered a storm? Do we feel the weather more as we age?"

Although a doctor would probably be better at answering the specifics of this question, I spoke to a meteorologist who gave some insight.

"Breathing the air in Atlanta or L.A. or New York is the equivalent of smoking a pack a day. The long-term affects of dirty air would be pretty significant," said Colin Marquis, senior meteorologist at The Weather Channel.

"Also, you hear your grandmother hear about how her bones ache when it's going to rain. There have been studies on pressure change and humidity change. Big chages, rapid changes are going to have a great impact on somebody who's more frail. The Weather Channel went as far as having an aches and pains index. The two primary components are pressure change and humidity change."

Finally, Marquis pointed out that prolonged long-term exposure to the sun is a risky proposition. Health, the look of the skin and risk of skin cancers are all concerns.
