Granny Smith apple: Granny Smith
This archived discussion is "read only".
» Gay_Klok - Granny Smith Jerri, I was astonished to see the Granny Smith apple in your poll list of favourite apples. Our Granny Smith is a Tasmanian apple - green, wonderful for cooking at an early ripe age and then great for eating. Is it the same?It is not grown very much anymore, the Fujii and others have taken over, to cater for the export market - the Japanese market especially The cross with Golden Delicious and ? happened in a back yard garden of granny Smith annnd it became a great favourite throughout Australia. We still have a few of these old apple trees growing in the orchards - Golden Delicious, Sturmer, Lady-in-the-Snow to mention a few -- posted by Gay_Klok
