It would be wonderful if you wrote about the history of trappers there. And you're fight, it does seem cruel. I'm also glad it's short. You always add a personal note, and it makes things so much more interesting. Thanks for that. I'll look forward to hearing from you. Jerri -- posted by jerrib » jerrib - Tina In response to message posted by Christina_Coruth:Trapping is not really something that I enjoy writing about, but seemed appropriate with the new initiative. It, too, seems inhumane to me. I really enjoyed your "witch" series you just did. It's so great to be in the company of great and interesting writers like you. It's really a treat for me when you visit and comment. All's well here. Still catching up on my rest after herding four grandchildren, but it was so much fun. Talk to you soon. Jerri -- posted by jerrib » cardnal - fur trapping article I enjoyed your article. It is the beginning of deer hunting season here in Mississippi. There are always those who argue against hunting here. I remember my middle daughter being so against it. When she researched a speech for her ag science class, she began to understand that the hunting season is one way of controlling the deer population and keeping deer from starving--a death more painful than a bullet. Most of the hunters that she began to encounter make use of the deer meat. Many told her how it helped with their grocery bills. There is always another side of the issue.Dorothy -- posted by cardnal » jerrib - Re: fur trapping article In response to message posted by cardnal:That there is, Dorothy. Hunting and killing animals seems cruel to a lot of folks who are very verbal about it these days. I don't like to see animals suffer, but you're right. There's a positive side. And since a lot of folks like to eat meat, where do they think it comes from? I have never liked the idea of trapping, as I think it's cruel - but it's a way to help the animal population stay healthy in the long run. My husband used to hunt when we were young. It helped put groceries on the table when times were tough. We ate a lot of venison. Your current article was interesting to me, too. Thanks for stopping by and saying hello. Jerri -- posted by jerrib » Renie_Burghardt - Fur Trapping Hi Jerri, what an informative history of fur trapping. And I'm glad to hear that the season is shorter. I realize animals have to be controlled, but my heart is saddened by the thought anyway. We have deer season in my state, right now, and I can't wait until it's over, and I watch for the doe and her twin fawns that always come to the house for chopped corn, just before dark. So far, they have made it, and with only a few more days to go, I'm hoping they will still be coming after deer season. I just can't help from feeling that way. However, I enjoyed and found your article most interesting, as always. Take care. Talk to you soon, Jerri! Renie -- posted by Renie_Burghardt » jerrib - Re: Fur Trapping - Renie In response to message posted by Renie_Burghardt:I agree with you, Renie. The deer are so beautiful and as as we both know deserve a place on this earth, too. It also saddens me when animals are killed - but I know it is a way of life. Hope your wild deer make it the next few days. I'm glad my husband doesn't hunt anymore. It was never for sport when he did - it was to put food on our table. Thanks for stopping by. Glad you got things worked out and are back online. Missed you! Jerri -- posted by jerrib » Dubh_Sidhe - Animal trapping Jerrib, one of the great things about the Suite is what one can learn from the fine articles, of which this is.I detest hunting for sport and clothing. I get so sad during deer hunting season. Thank you for your interesting and informative article. -- posted by Dubh_Sidhe » jerrib - Re: Animal trapping - Dubh In response to message posted by Dubh_Sidhe:I'm with you. I could never imagine getting any satisfaction out of wearing a fur. Just would be too sad to know the animal died for somebody's vanity. The sport of killing of the fun of it, either. I know I'll probably get some flak for this, but I hate it and am glad my husband doesn't do it anymore. Thanks for stopping by. It's always nice to see new faces here at the the WA site. Your comments add so much. Jerri -- posted by jerrib » Mary Trotter Kion - Washington Forts Hi Jerri,Good article.
