» Tina_Coruth - Hatha Yoga and Kayaking! Hatha Yoga and Kayaking! Now that sounds very interesting. I have never heard of combining the two, but it makes sense. This sounds like a lovely place! Great article Jerri! Happy 4th! -- posted by Tina_Coruth » Naomi_Mathews - Another superb Washington area... Hi, Jerri! Once again, you've given a splendid virtual tour of yet another of Washington's many wonderful places to visit and tour.Aren't we lucky to live in one of the most scenic and historical states in America? I think so! When hubby and I get back from our long trips to the midwest and east coast this year, we're still tentatively planning to take our RV and head south to our beloved Oregon Coast for a spell and visit two of our "older" siblings along the way. Perhaps this is one of the places we could work into that trip. (-; Thanks for the great info, Jerri! Always look forward to your next WA adventures. -- posted by Naomi_Mathews

thank you, -- posted by Suzanne Hill » jerrib - Hope you can someday, Suzanne. We are such a diverse state, with mountains, ocean, rivers, lakes, etc. We are truly nature lovers. When the sun comes out here, you drop whatever you're doing and play! Weather is talked about constantly (we don't get enough sun on the west side of the mountains). We like it here, anyway. Put it on you itinerary of places to see. Seattle is a treasure trove of art and galleries. The Seattle Art Museum and others are great. Anyway, thanks for visiting. Jerri -- posted by jerrib » Renie_Burghardt - Skamakowa's Paddling Center Hi Jerri,I love the names of these towns in your beautiful state. Skamakowa sounds like a nature lovers paradise. We took a boat ride on the river at night, once, and it was an incredible experience. (After the initial walk to the boat in the dark, that is, and the fear of stepping on a copperhead!) So paddling by full moonlight sounds wonderful to me. Hope you had a wonderful hike on the mountain, and we'll be reading about it, soon. I enjoyed my visit here, Jerri. You always give us such interesting places to read about. See you next time! Renie -- posted by Renie_Burghardt » jerrib - Well, Renie Sometimes I just like to get out and forget about writing. So I don't know that I will write about Mt. Rainier right now. But we did have a great time. There are two visitor centers on each side of the mountain (north and south). The northern one is Sunrise and the southern one is Paradise. We started out at Sunrise and didn't get to hike too far. We didn't equip ourselves for SNOW! - four inches and more. So our hike was short-lived. It was also foggy and you couldn't see. We drove around the mountain and went to the Paradise side where there was sunshine and it was warmer. Had a picnic and "did some short trails" down to beautiful rivers - it was an excellent day. It wasn't even crowded, which Rainier can be in the summertime. We had a cute (though some would not call it that) gray jay trying to get some food. My granddaughter could not stand it, so fed him/her? Oops. I really don't like to do that, as they forget how to forage for themselves. Then the bird fought with three others for the food. Hmm. There's a canyon called Box Canyon of the Chehalis, you can view it from the bridge above, that is 1,800 feet down to the surface of the river below; it's quite narrow and beautiful rock graces the sides. Lots of cameras were clicking. There's also a Reflection Lake that's true to its name; it was beautiful yesterday, too. And, of course, the huge trees are magnificent. I took a bunch of photos. Anyway, that's all the writing I'm doing on the mountain. Thanks for the thoughts! Jerri -- posted by jerrib » Red - Jerri, a great... article, as usual. This is a most interesting place. The photo makes me wish I could just take off and come to visit your beautiful state right now. You make everything you write about sound so interesting. I could spend a full month just exploring and still not see all that I would like. I hope you had a great time on Mount Ranier. That is another site that I dream of seeing one day. Keep up the good work, Jerri. I really like coming to visit and learning about Washington State. -- posted by Red » jerrib - Why don't you just hop on a plane and come? We'd love to have you visit? But I know it's not that easy for you to get away right now.If you like to hike, Mt. Rainier is the place. It's also where my friend is climbing the summit to benefit breast cancer. You could spend days on the mountain. Jerri -- posted by jerrib
