» Terrie_Bittner - I'm listed in such glamorous company!

I'm listed in such glamorous company! I lived in Washington State just three years and they had to drag me kicking and screaming out of it! It was the first place I ever loved to live, and I hoped I'd never leave. It's pretty here in Illinois right now, but I am not a cold-and-snow sort of person, so... and two weeks ago I substituted in a children's church class where mountains were mentioned. They had never seen one, so I had to bring a picture of Mount Ranier. We used to be able to see the mountain out our living room window, and all this flat land is hard to get used to. What did I love? Great weather-I like rain-, a beach a few minutes away, pine trees everywhere, and very polite people.

» mariaandrea - You're the best Jerri

I'm with Terri. How nice of you! My heart will always hold that stunning combination of water and mountains and the peaceful forests (without snakes and fire ants, I might add, having stumbled over my first rattlesnake a few weeks ago. Luckily it was a baby. How I digress) Anyway, I never thought I would say that I miss slugs, but there it is. They, at least, don't bite! I even miss the blackberry brambles that constantly threatened to overgrow our house. We could reach out the second floor window and pick them off the vine! Yum! One of these days I am going to move back and take you out for a cup of Starbucks as a thank you for this wonderful site!

How do I thank you for all the kind words? I would love to meet both of you if you ever get back in this neighborhood. You describe what this state is all about so aptly. Thanks for painting another picture for folks to enjoy. You are great!

What a surprise! Thanks for bringing this to light again, Wendell. I'm glad the links still work. I try to keep them up when someone comments and brings them alive again. Boy, you are bringing up an "oldie!" It's fun to take a trip down memory lane.

Seattle Lexicon is good, isn't it? You could spend hours looking around there.
