What a fascinating place this must be! I would love to go and browse here. I'm sure one could look for days. The rates are very reasonable and when they expand it will be even more impressive.

We have a superb exhibition in Tasmanian Museum showing for 3 months now. The biggest 'Moderns' [Matisse, Degas etc] collection of all times. It is so far for 'Aussies' to travel to the rest of the Western world, we do appreciate these showings.

Do your Art Galleries show any Australian artists?

Hi Gay.

The museum ran a contemporary Australian Aboriginal Art Special Exhibition from 1999 to 2003. They have traveling exhibits, so I'm sure Australian art is in the mix.

Our local art museum has art on view by Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, among others, right now - I will get down to see the exhibit before it's gone.

What would we do without traveling exhibits? They certainly broaden our horizons.

Hi Joy.

It's a first-rate museum, so there's a lot going on all the time. It's about a four-hour drive for me now, so I won't be going there soon. I do miss Seattle since I moved to the eastern side of the state - used to spend time there being a tourist every chance I got.

The rates are reasonable, and first two floors free when the expansion is done is even better!

Do you have some local museums you visit? It would be great to hear about them.

Jerri, I enjoyed reading about the Seattle Art Museum. It certainly is first rate. Wow!! After the expansion, it will be even more spectacular. I can see why you would miss not being close by.

The nearest major art museums would be in Houston and San Antonio and it's been many years since I've visited any of them. Your article reminded me what I'm missing.

Yep, Tina. I'm at a bit of disadvantage when it comes to visiting Seattle, but I wouldn't change where I now live.

Give yourself a treat and go visit one, Joy. I love art museums; you can just really lose yourself and have a great time.
