» Fort_Spunky - Apples and tea

Hi Jerri,

Hope the tea's not all gone. (Mary, I love that teapot!)

Thinking about apples, I remember a dessert that my uncle's mother used to make. (He married my aunt, so his mother wasn't my grandmother. smile ) She was from Croatia and came to American as a young girl in the early 1900s. She was a wonderful cook. One of her specialties was apple strudel. She made it with an egg dough that she rolled out very thin, spread with butter, a crumb mixture and apples. Then she rolled it up and baked it. Oh, how I wish I could taste that delicious dessert again. I'm not sure many of us have the patience for a dish like that. Or the time to make it.

Linda

I have never eaten apple strudel, Linda, but it sounds delicious. Isn't it interesting a lot of our memories include food? Hope you are enjoying your cup and tea and memories of the strudel. Welcome to the tea party.

Poulsbo, WA, is a Norwegian community and they have a big celebration every year with all the foods you write about, so I have eaten lefsa, but I could never quite get excited about trying lutefisk. Do you like it, Hank?

Yes, it is interesting how so many nice memories involve food. Maybe because delicious foods please the senses and puts everyone in a good mood and then it's even more enjoyable and memorable. Especially during the holidays.

I made note of your recipe, Jerri. It really does sound good! :-)

Egad! I am lying int he floor helpless now imagining how good those cookies must be.

I have a krumkaka iron, its the old style, that is placed over a burner or on a hot stove, to bake. Also 6 cones with it. I'm just not sure exactly what to do with it. Any suggestions?
