I read your profile, and you mention doing a lot of volunteer work with kids & computers. As luck would have it, my next article (coming out Oct 1.) is about "Service in Cyberspace" -- how to volunteer using your computer, the internet, etc. Maybe you'll see some ideas there that you can pursue. So many non-profit organizations desperately need help with technology, from data entry to website design. Sounds like there might be a match there for you.
