Because you sometimes have to thank your volunteers having a volunteer program can teach your administrators and staff how to say "Thank you," in ways that seem more meaningful than what your elementary school teacher taught or tried to teach you about "the magic words."

Yes, praise isn't just for Captain Kangeroo anymore - Captains of industry and public services take note of this article - It underscores one of the great values of establishing a volunteer program in any organization.

You are totally right... A heart-felt "Thanks" isn't just for volunteers or non-profit organizations. It can improve morale and even loyalty in any kind of institution. Positive reinforcement can also work wonders with families. It's not a "cure-all" solution, but it truly *does* help, particularly when coupled with doing what you say (modeling the way), and open communications.
