Mmmmm...think I'll go out and shee what flowers I can eat for a bedtime snack.

I loved your article. Simply holding a rose petal to ones lips is like being kissed by an angel.

All the best

Hi Carol! This may not count as a full recipe, but it is fun to do. Make a pretty, seasonal mixed greens tossed salad and add violets and chives and what have you from your garden. (Be sure the plant materials are indeed edible and have not been sprayed or otherwise treated with chemicals such as a weed and feed for the lawn) Then toss a handful of bright red tulip petals across the top to dress it up. Weirds out the guests every time! Barbara (Eco-Gardens)

Barbara, I get the ame reaction of I add whole nasturtium blossoms. People pick them up, stare at them, stare at me, and finally either ask if they're really to eat, or wait until they see me eat one.

Slivered daylily petals are also a nice touch. They help to extend the weirding out season but also taste good. And I do love to use rose petals, if I have any left after potpourri, or trying to make rosewater.

Elise,

Lucky you to have flowers to snack on! At the moment I have a few pansies and that's it. But soon. . .

Glad you enjoyed the article.

Barbara, funny you should ask. This just came up in the Daylily Robin. A hybridizer on the list apparently gets pretty hungry while deadheading all his new intros, but says he has discerned no difference in taste. Up to this year I had all pinks and the ubiquitous orange, so I didn't have much of a sample to taste--but wait til this year! Carol
