I know, Gay - the main reason I first decided to plant hellebores was because I saw some blooming at Christmas - of course that was not in Pennsylvania! Although my H. niger did put out a few flowers on Janualry 2 or so. But for me the Orientalis come out aroundnow - or even later - that's why we call them Lenten Roses - because they tend to bloom around Lent or Easter.-- posted by Carol Wallace
