» Ixia - grow well

Gay,
funny you should mention that.
This works with other plants as well., but I take the dog out. He likes to bark at the neighbours.

» CarolWallace - Not just lemon trees ;-)

My husband waters around plants that are especially delicious to deer. It seems to keep them away.

I'll bet Freud never envisioned that type of envy in relation to gardening.

» mastiffs2005 - The life of the party!

I have a house full of company all over here playing darts, and I decided to check in with Suite for a few minutes. I hit what's new, and get this discussion, and read it to my guests...

You guys are the life of the party! You had 'em rolling on the floor... I'm going to get me one of those Meyer Lemon Trees, but no one is "going" on it! So there.

I don't seem to be the only one making declarations tonight either. For some reason, Deb refuses to test the temperature of her soil with her "bare bum"... go figure. And Scotty and Jaykel won't hug their trees! It's a strange, strange world...

» Ixia - Hug trees

Well y'all,
I'm into hugging trees and helping the plants but I'll be doggeed!
I draw the line at testing the soil temp. You never know what's crawling around underneath

regards

» Brian_Hughes - Not a word

about plastic lemons Carol.

And I fear the new garden here won't even support the 'daffs and astroturf... too many rocks... the heavy kind.

I'm definitely going to have to rethink this...

» CarolWallace - Rocks??

Brian - rocks are what we grow best here! At least it means you have decent drainage! But you are far too cold up there for outdoor lemon trees! Bring the thorny little dears in and enjoy the fragrance.

I dunno, may give you a nice tickle. And the frog may turn into a handsome prince

» CarolWallace - No hugs??

Why not? I see nothing wrong with hugging a tree - unless it's so big that a hug is impossible - or if it's thorny and might be painful - or if its one of the sumacs that pop up relentlessly no matter how hard I try to keep after them!

Soil testing - I can sympathize with Deb's reluctance - although I'm sure it's warmer there than it is in my yard! But I doubt I'll test mine the old treaditional way, either. It's all mulched, and, as Gay said, would undoubtedly tickle and prickle.

In response to message posted by CarolWallace:

Hi Carol ,
thanks for visiting me and your input I believe that hugging a tree or a person is a Great release of emotions and I wish that more people were in tune to the fact that we all need the feeling of touch in our lives and yes this does include our trees and plants too. I feel that if we all hugged someone more often we would all feel so much better than we do now and the world would be a happier place.

Hi Mike, I'll bet a lot of my readers will be glad to find you, because I know that many of those who participate in my discussions are fibromites (as we call ourselves.)

I'm glad Gary alerted me to your posts as I would never have thought to find you in Alpines and Bulbs!
