Thanks for forwarding this to me. Sally and I have visited Nimes several
times, and it was a day trip from where we stayed in Cassis. The arena, and the
Maison Carree are outstanding. The Romans were amazing builders.

Hi Maryel,

Well, this was such an interesting article! Frankly, I had never heard of Nimes until your article.

I was especially interested in its long history. I am sure that I would enjoy visiting the area, as I am fascinated by Roman and earlier times.

Best wishes,
Tom

Hi Tom.

If Roman times are your thing, you would truly love this area of Provence. Besides Nimes and environs,Arles has a well preserved arena Avignon still has a great Roman wall, Pope's palace and the famous Pont d'Avignon made famous by the song. Of course there there is the Pont d'arc'(earlier article) to name just a few such sites. My next article will probably be either Arles and Avignong. I too have always loved ancient history and have been lucky enough to visit many of these sites From England to Egypt, Italy, Greece and Turkey. (Egypt, and Pompeii and Olympia in Greece being favorites andI have written about all of these. Thanks for stopping by. ME
