» Maryel - What do you think about glorifying the Madams of the Goldrush

Did they serve a much needed purpose, or are we using it as an excuse, to okay the "sins" of the flesh. Or is it tongue in cheek glorification, and just good fun? Is it in poor taste?

Were these women exploited or were they the explioiters?

Did they save the " Good Women" from rape, sexual harrasment, from all these lonely men, etc as is said by some, or is it just a good excuse? I am interested in what you think about the question.

» WildCityWoman57 - Thanks for this info . . .

I'm working on the topic of totem poles right now to do some poems and writes on a few pictures I took while in Victoria and in Jasper.

I'll copy this link so I can study it more closely when I do up my article. Right now I'm just in the process of researching for it.

After spending a few days in Ketchikan, my memories are more on the phrase "You don't tan in Ketchikan, you rust" than of Dolly's House. The rain was incessant.
In Ephesus there is an image, carved in a stone path, pointing to a local establishment. The profession has existed for a very long time.
