» cleo66 - one sick tree
I purchased a hibiscus tree this summer, and since I live in Michigan, I brought the tree indoors for the winter. The leaves have been yellowing and falling off at an alarming rate. If I don't figure something out soon, all I will have is a stick. I haven't fertilized it, because I don't know what it needs. It sits in a northwest facing window. Please help!-- posted by cleo66

In response to message posted by cleo66:Cleo, I live in Ohio and have been bringing my hibiscus {10 of them} in the house each winter for many years. Every year some of the leaves turn yellow and fall off, but it isn't long before new leaves and even blooms will appear. I never fertilize in the winter, not until just before it's time to take them outside for the summer again.
Relax and pick up the fallen leaves, knowing that next spring your plant will be ready to go outside to bring you another year of joy!

» Nancynemo - leaves falling off my hibiscus tree
I live in Florida and have a "Charlie Brown" hibiscus tree. It looks so funny as the leaves have turned yellow and have fallen off but I still get an occasional bloom at the end of a bare branch so I know it isn't completely dead. I've gone back and forth, did I water it too much, not enough, too much fertilizer, not enough, too much sun (can't say not enough down here). Someone told me to use orchid fertilizer on it but even that didn't work. 20/20/20 didn't/t work. HELP!-- posted by Nancynemo

In response to one sick tree posted by cleo66:I have the same problem with my hibiscus tree now. This is the first one I ever bought and now the leaves are turning yellow and falling off. I really don't have a great spot in the house to put it where it will get alot of sun, so I really don't know what to do with mine. What if any, did you find out about yours?

I too have leaves falling off of my hibiscus tree. I live in MN and bought it this summer at an auction. It had scale and was in pretty bad shape, but I managed to bring it back. I repotted it recently, and since that, all the leaves have gone droopy, turning yellow and falling off. I'm not sure what else I can do for it. Any thoughts?-- posted by rlhanson96
