When I first started gardening [in the Town House Garden], I was visited by a lady who lives only one street along and who owns one of the very best gardens in Tasmania. She looked at the garden bed where I had planted a whole mass of "Iceberg" roses that had grown from cuttings from my mother's garden. As the cuttings had all grown rapidly, I couldn't bear not to plant any of them

Judy said to me "I think your long border is marvelous." I was so excited, I couldn't wait for Kees,to get home , I rang him at work "Did you know we have a Long Border? That is what Judy called the Icebergs bed"
