» dogsgrandma - Family Therapist Didn't Help Now I understand why the family therapist didn't seem to understand. My now ex-husband initiated the therapy in an effort to "reconcile." I knew enough at the time to realize he wanted to manipulate the therapist into pronouncing me crazy. I was ready to play by the rules, so I was dressed and made up well and tried to be as reasonable as possible. The therapist (who was male)was looking for signs of bi-polar disease in me. He seemed to be looking for signs up extreme physical abuse, which seldom happened, and didn't seem to understand the torture of emotional abuse. I thought with the flood of information on domestic abuse that professionals were familiar with it. Your article helped me understand why the therapist didn't help and seemed to be on the abuser's side!-- posted by dogsgrandma
