» dlstang - Mystery....

Sounds like a child abuse death to me. That would explain the parents not reporting him missing. Still, one would hope a grandparent, aunt, uncle, cousin, neighbor, etc. would recognize him and come forward. What a sad, sad mystery!

» FactoryGirl - Possible Solution?

If the detective thought that the foster family was responsible, wouldn't it be easy to track the foster kids? They all had to grow up and get jobs, families, etc. Wouldn't that be a trail to follow? If one of the kids couldn't be tracked past the time of the death, that might mean he is the boy in the box. Has anyone tried to do this?

That's a good point. As far as I know, the detective did not question any of the foster children, but you're right, it would be hard to believe that he wouldn't have tried that route.

i think that the whole family would have been in it if no family members can forward.
