Tropicals in a cooler climate
This archived discussion is "read only".
» Kernxotica - My experience of tropicals in SW Britain. I live in Cornwall which is the 'foot' of Britain. Here the climate is mild with a high annual rainfall upto 50inches. The summers are generally dry and hot,I call it 'Cool Mediterranean'. Winters rarely see frost in coastal areas and the day temperature rarely drops below 10C. I can grow many succulents outdoors like Agaves, cacti and Aloes, plus bananas, tree ferns, gingers, cordylines,Astelia plus lots more hardy exotics. I am experimenting with tender plants like Cuphea, Tradescantia, Schefflera and Schinus molle. If you would like to visit my website on Cornish exotic gardening, please go to http://www.kernxotica.co.uk thanks -- posted by Kernxotica
