I have a single specimen of this fascinating fish as the LFS said they could only be kept singly. It is in a 200 litre community tank (about 50 US Gal).

Research on net suggests that these are shy, temperamental, nocturnal, slow to mature and difficult to keep. As well as recommending keeping them singly.

I have found that mine is very active day or night, slightly more so at night but it certainly does not shy away from the light. I have also managed to hand feed it and it has grown from about 3 cm 8 months ago to close to 30 cm now (1"-12"). It is a good community member although it is now big enough to bully other bottom feeders away from the food and, like all fish, it has a voracious appetite.

As it is now almost fully grown (40 cm)I am interested in how to breed these delightful fish does anyone know how to go about this?
