Hi Irene,
As I guess I have mentioned before, I am very interested in Clare and I love this article. The photos are wonderful! I read once that tourists are warned not to walk to the edge of the Cliffs of Moher because the ground sometimes give way. Still it looks very tempting!

Have you ever been to Ennistymon?

Great article, Irene -- thank you!
Tina

Hi Tina,

Thanks for dropping by. Clare is one of my favorite counties too. I've never actually been to Ennistymon, no. I believe it is very pretty though. Did you know that Dylan Thomas was married to an Ennistymon woman called Kathleen Macnamara? Her family home is now an hotel there.

Ailwee Caves are great. You can also visit "Craggy Island". Ennistymon is a cool place. I went there a couple of times. Also go to the coast east of Ballyaughan. It's lovely there.

Hi Matishen,
Thanks for visiting my site and adding your favorite Clare places. Almost the whole of the county is worth visiting. Are you in Ireland?

» pamela_saint - Clare vs. Clair

Although the spelling is different (Clare/Clair), I wonder if I can lay claim to some connection? Clare looks breath-takingly beautiful. As usual, your article makes me pine away for a trip!

» Red - great article...

Irene, this is a great article. I would love to visit Ireland. It is the home of my ancestors.

All of the places you mentioned sound like fantastic places to visit. The view from the cliffs are awesome and I would love to visit Ailwee Caves, especially the one with the waterfall.

I don't know much about the country but I am sure I will learn much by visiting your topic.

Thanks for dropping over to my topic and leaving such nice comments on Butchart Gardens. I hope you will visit again soon.

Usually Irish people spell the name Clare and I think Clair has just evolved out of that. Clare comes from the Irish, "an clar," meaning flat place.
