Don't judge a country based on something you heard. Thats the one thing People to People tries to do, make you forget steriotypes and assumptions and see something for yourself. I went to Russia on a cruise, so I did stay in the hotels there, but I loved the people and the country. It was a country I would love to see again. I was only in St. Petersburg though. I heard Moscow is beautiful. I have friends that went with People to People International.

Keep in mind though, the trip is a lot of money. If you do not want to go, don't. You can choose any destination you want to go to. If the trip is successful, they will run it again. I would think it over, but don't just jump into it if you aren't sure. I do have to say though, no matter the destination, every People to People I have been on I loved!

I have never seen that to be a traditional outfit for an interview, but you should not have a problem. This, for one, will show that you are involved in your community outside of school. If they have any questions, you can always explain your situation.

hmm true, that would be good. anyways, ok i was going to submit letters to places (sponsorship) with the letter i sent to you, but which places do i submit it to? chains, fancy resturants? what other places can i send to besides resturants i cant think of anything. also how do i present it to them. mail, or like go in and talk to manager? i dont get it..

You can send them anywhere. The more you send out the better chances you have. You can also send them to a variety of places. I just recommended the European restuarants because they have a connection with your trip, and they might understand why you want to travel there. There aren't any limitations to what you can do. I would recommend going to the location and handing it to an employee or manager. This shows that you took the time to visit them and care about their personal reaction. If you send a mass mailing, they might just think of it as a spam message, just like you might have thought when you received your letter about the trip.

Ok, I'm sure your delegation leaders will make sure you get to shower. Even if you have to in a metal tub! Don't let that keep you from having another great experience.
Secondly, the launguage. If you guys are going to go and acually talk and listen to a Russian dude, there's probably going to be a translator. People to People isn't stupid.
If you have any interest whatsoever in Russia or Germany, then go. Don't let those small conflicts keep you down. If you DON'T have any interest in Germany or Russia, and just want to have the expereience again, it might not be as big of a deal as it might have been if you were interested.

My opinion? GO!

Outback Steakhouse may be a good idea. Our student chapter held an Aussie Afternoon last April. We got in contact with Quantas, the Baltimore Aquarium (they have an exhibit on Australia), the Australian Parliament, Questacon, and the adult chapter in Inverrell, Australia. We sent a letter to Kraft (they make vegemite), but we did not get a response from them.

Local Greek, Italian, and French restaurants would be a great idea. You may also ask your local French or Italian language classes or international organizations in your school about sponsorship.
