Thhomestayay was also a big problem. No adults in the home and several teenage New Zealander boys and girl tried to get the delegates to drink alcohol. The delegates got in trouble after thhomestayay. None of the leaders called eithehomestayay (there were two) so the girls could use the code word. This organization put my daughter (and four other girls) in a dangerous situation and then tried to blame the kids! I've written to Mary Eisenhower and we've gotten no where. They even wrote something about this incident in her high school credit paperwork for the school credit they children can earn. This program is only concerned about the money. There are other programs cheaper but we chose this one because of their reputation and safety record. Now I see it is a systemic problem. Parents beware.SFrancici please contact me aqwertyty@ctmw.org. Any concerned parent can contact me there. -- posted by rubblebarney » rubblebarney - Re: Re: People to People Student Ambassador Program In response to Re: People to People Student Ambassador Program posted by thirth:Not only didn't our children's leaders call them at thhomestayay like they told us they would. One of the girls called a leader's host family's phone only to be told that the leaders went to bed and since it's not an emergency to call back in the morning. She didn't call back. What kind of leader would not givtheirer hosts instructions that if any otheirer children called no matter about what and what time that they should be got? They didn't do it. Two days later they disciplined my daughter and two other girls for taking a sip of alcohol in homestayay where no adults were present. Just what do they think a 13-14 year old girl might do in a situation like that? P2P doesn't seem to care. They just want our money. We asked for an apology and to have the reference to the incident taken out of permanentnt school record and they just brushed us off. -- posted by rubblebarney » thirth - Re: Re: Re: People to People Student Ambassador Program I am so sorry that this incident happened with your child. This is something that happens very rarely; it is not the norm. As a leader, my first priority is to keep the kids safe, and never would I (or any of the other leaders I have traveled with)ignore a students' phone call. Unfortunately, there are adults out there that will take advantage of the program and become a leader just to travel. These leaders are the ones who truly anger me and give our program these negative responses. Those people are weeded out and not allowed to travel again by parents like you who are persistent in getting some action taken. Mary Eisenhower is not the person to contact, however; she is located in Missouri at the People to People International offices. The people you need to keep in contact with are the ones in Spokane where the Student Ambassador Program is located. In the five trips that I have traveled on, I have never had a problem occur with the homestay. In fact, in the area I work in, I have not heard of an incident such as yours. Unfortunately your child had this unfortunate incident in their homestay, and I am truly sorry they had to go through that. -- posted by thirth » P2PHoper16 - How Long How long does it take to find out if your accepted?Thanks-- posted by P2PHoper16 » P2PHoper16 - Also Also how do you find out?
