» Joe_Dawson - Welcome to the Net

On behalf of Donovan Bailey, and myself we would like to wish Susan Wessling all the best of success with the new Suite101.com Track and Field section.

We hope this site is as successful as the Official Donovan Bailey Site ( http://donovanbailey.com ) has been for Donovan.

If we can ever help in anyway Susan we hope you will not hesitate to send e-mail, as Donovan is always only a click away.

Yours Truly,

Joe Dawson

» Joe_Dawson - Trash Talk...

Is it good for the sport?

Some may argue it is like fighting in hockey and that it is an important part of the whole sporting event.

I personally don’t feel it is beneficial to the sport and would rather we have less of it.

However the media only really starts to cover the sport when the trash talk is happening.

And we all know how important it is to have media coverage. Increasing media coverage is the one thing that the IAAF, USATF, and Athletics Canada is working hard to achieve. To their credit they have had some limited success.

So I ask the question… Do you need to have trash talk? What is your view?

» SWessling - trash talk

In terms of the athletes - I prefer to see them do their talking on the track. As a fan - I think it can be fun to exchange views - even if a little "trash talking" is involved.

» camdog - trash talking

When I said trash talking, I dont mean irrelevant trash. It is good to hear collegiate/elite runners talking about who's gonna win for this reason or that. I think a little emotion is good for any sport. Get out there and support your team or favorite runners.

Go Tulane! at the NCAA's this weekend. There are gonna be several of our women there this weekend looking to do some damage.

» Track11 - DONOVAN BAILEY WORLD'S FASTEST MAN!

Who are your picks for the outdoor season? I think and know Bailey will be back and will win the world outdoor championships in the 100m and 4x100m. The U.S. will be powerless againist the fastest world in the world CANADA.

THE TRUE NORTH STRONG AND FAST!

» SWessling - A run for his money

Being an American, I think Maurice Greene could give Bailey a run for his money. As far as the women sprinters go, Marion Jones will come out on top.

» DeMarco - competition great

It was a great world champs, and Micheal (400) proved once again when it really counts he's the best! Go USA! I would like to add that having individuals like Donavan Bailey in the sport is great. Athletes like him make the sport interesting and the final outcome enticing to watch.I wish, as always, that the distance races could have been seen.
