» desertblue - thank you! This is exactly the kind of thoughtful, intelligent critique on Boromir and his family that I have hoped you'd write. It makes sense to consider someone's actions from the perspective of the reality the character must have lived under.This makes Boromir's verbal "arrogance" fit with all the high praise heaped on him by others we come to respect, including Theoden, Beregond and Faramir. Boromir was NOT a blowhard; he just had a forceful manner of speech. And I think Aragorn did see Boromir as a friend whom he loved, rather than just sucking up to a potential rival. -- posted by desertblue
