» Michael_Martinez - Re: Re: Re: Re: sauron In response to message posted by Dominator:Saruman's Uruk-hai were only one group of Uruks (derived from one or more tribes whom Saruman had recruited into his service). The Uruks of Moria may or may not have served the Balrog. They surely feared it. But the relationship between Sauron, the Balrog, and the descendants of the colonists Sauron had sent there centuries before is not stipulated. In one place, Gandalf says there are other evil things in the world besides Sauron. I get the impression that, though Sauron was indeed the most powerful of the great evils, and most likely directing the efforts of Saruman and the Balrog to a certain extent, they were probably more like dangerous rivals who had compromised with him until such time as circumstance would benefit them better. The Balrog need not have had any designs upon or interest in the One Ring. It could or should have had its own priorities, which may have coincided with Sauron's for a time. Such cooperation between former servants of Morgoth would make it easier for the Balrog to coexist in Moria with Sauron's colonists. -- posted by Michael_Martinez
