» Mataxes - Minor Trivia

Great article, Michael. I kind of regret that given my geographic location and lifestyle (struggling writer in the woods of central Maine), I don't get to attend conventions very often (in fact, I haven't beenn to one since I moved to this area about six years ago).

I would just like to point out that the Karl Urban unreleased TV pilot you refer to was in fact called "Amazon High" and not "Amazon Nation".

It was produced by Rob Tapert and Renaissance Pictures (of Xena and Hercules fame) as a potential replacement for Hercules. It didnn'treally catch on, and Rob decided he wanted to go in a different direction with his new shows anyhow.

» Michael_Martinez - Thanks, Josh!

I have all but permanently settled on "Amazon Nation" as a matter of personal convenience, wrong though it may be, because they went through name changes and the only footage ever to be shown on the air (so far) was the Xena episode from earlier this year which used clips from the show to reveal the history of the Amazon tribes.

I should also point out that I didn't have time to cover all the convention in my article. I'd especially like to thank Chris Nelson and his friends, Jeff and Paul (full names, I think, on the Xenite.Org Dragoncon page), for their great efforts in the Tolkien Quenya workshop. I know they received many compliments from attendees and I heard good things, too.

I've invited them back for next year (but they'll be limited to 1-hour sessions, which will take place in the regular daily schedule).
