But, it is just a movie and what does peter Jackson know anyway if he cut out someone like tom Bombadil! It could have been anyone with long blonde hair. ^^; I have even heard rumors that it may have been Thranduil, but of course this cannot be confirmed either. If the blond elf isn't just a blond elf, then he is presumably Thranduil. It seems that Legolas could be anywhere from 500 to 5,000 years old. Personally, I lean towards a low estimate for his age. However, there is no basis for saying that is how old Tolkien intended book-Legolas to be in any published writing of which I am aware. People should be careful to distinguish between the cinematic 'facts' and the literary 'facts'. I have studied the books for years, but am still relatively new to Peter Jackson's Middle-earth.
