it's a shame i didn't read your message before posting earlier - but i have to say it was in agreement with what you're saying now.

just reading the books... that's enough for me. people who only love him from the movies miss out on so many things - such as his budding relationship with gimli - and his song of mourning for boromir. perhaps what intrigues so many readers - is the mystery that tolkein left us - intentionally - or not.

anyways - i'll shut up now - but i agree with you completely.

As well thought out as this is, I have to disagree.
While I am a LotR fan, I am also not one to memorize any of the wars names. If you have seen the movie.....the first war (The one with the Elves and Men against the Orcs and Sauron) You can clearly see a scene showing Legolas in it (When Sauron explodes, you see a scene of Men and Elves removing their helmets and looking amazed, you can clearly see Legolas in that scene) This proving that he has been around quite some time, being old enough to have fought in that war.
And because I do not know the name of that war, I am not sure when it took place, so I cannot check.

Another of my reasoning is that at the very very end of the third book, they have a timeline showing the main events of each age, and Births of Characters are all listed. Even minor characters such as Arwen. The only age that the timeline is absent for is the First age. And Legolas' birth is no where to be found in any of the other ages, concluding that either JRR Tolkien forgot about Legolas (How can anyone forget a cutie like him ^.^) or he was born in the first age.
Anyone who bothers to read my long reply, I commend you. Dunno if I could even read the thing without becoming bored to tears.......

I have to say i thawt Lord Of The Rings was an excellent movie and i cant wait to see the next part. Even thou it was 3 hours long it was the coolest movie ever and seeing Legolas was jus the best cos he is so spunky man, i would love to meet him hehe.

This is just an opinion, but I think that Orlando Bloom looks REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hot in The Lord Of The Rings: The fellowship Of The Ring. He plays Legolas so well, and he looks so hot with the blonde hair, and those cute little elf ears!! lol. But seriously, that movie kicked some serious butt, and I would HIGHLY recommend it! It had great special effects, and as I said before, Orlando Bloom makes a really Cute, and really good Legolas!!! I can't wait to see the others!!!

incredibly HOT!!! ( I WISH!!!) lol. LORD OF THE RINGS WAS THE BEST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!! It was like, 2 million hours short!!! It was only three hours long!! I could have sat there all day watching that movie, IT WAS THE BEST!!! And Orlando Bloom as Legalos was soooooo amazingly fine!!! ) Orlando should really grow his hair out like that, it looked really hot. I loved it how Legalos was pretty much a silent character; it made him more mysterious. He was also a kick-butt archer, and could probably shoot a dime from a mile away!!! I want to go see that movie again sooo badly!! IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET, GO SEE IT RIGHT NOW!!!! I GARANTEE THAT YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!!!
