» Jojo - Hi Stacey

I LOVE IT!

I didn't know about your topic until I saw it as featured topic in the ochre side-bar. I took the test and it turns out I'm teenage.

What is a rubber scraper? If you can tell me, I might be able to up my score and get into the next level. Is it one of those special rubber spatulas for getting the last drop of sauce out? Or maybe its something used in washing dishes?

Not only do I use and wash cloth diapers (not on myself mind you), I made them myself. Sounds ridiculous but the old, fold-them-yourself type of flannelette flats are actually much easier to deal with than the fitted ones if you are in a situation with limited access to a washer and drier. I have a washing machine, but prefer to use the clothes line when its so nice outside. Also, you won't ever need to switch sizes -- just fold them differently. I use vinyl overpants over the diaper to keep them in place, and these were quite costly new but I got mine at a thrift store. Whether all of this frugality spurns from cheapness or just a preference for simpler things is subject to interpretation. I use the extra money for things that really matter, like a full satelliteTV connection. Just because your cheap doesn't mean you have to be a complete luddite. I must admit though, that most of my contemporaries think I'm completely nuts in my consumer choices.

Have you ever heard of buy nothing day? It's come and gone again this year, but you might want to check into it at...

In response to message posted by Jojo:

You are awesome! I think that is so wonderful that you have made your own cloth diapers. I have heard of many people doing it, and that flannel is such much softer, nicer and comfy.

Unfortunately with my being so very sewing impaired, I have not tried it. Luckily, we're back to only one in diapers and in addition to that, she is our last. I haven't heard of a "buy nothing day" but I will check out the link for sure, I am wondering if it is similiar to "grocery exile." (thanks for posting)smile I hope to hear more from you!

Many Blessings!

Oh I forgot..., a rubber scraper/spatula is that which is used to scrape out the bowl, etc. Making sure you get every last bit! smile I hope this helped your score! ;)

» Jojo - rubber scraper

Hi Again Stacey

That certainly did help increase my score so I am now at the next level -- fully blown. Now what we need is a similar tool for getting all the batter and dough off the egg beaters. Maybe a bowl with deeper sides would help (running them on high speed til empty leads to some very spattered backsplashes and shirt fronts).

There's alot of room for inventiveness in being a tightwad. I am constantly thinking up ways to save on this or that. The problem is that they are so far to the extreme of tight-waddedness that I realize, even if I did get a patent and do all the testing and all, the only tightwads that would be interested in my new product would be too cheap to buy it.

I've never heard of grocery exile. I'll have to look into that as well.
