You know, there's nothing like the Salvation Army store for great buys. You have to be diligent and go often, but sometimes you can find great stuff for an amazing price! (Same goes for garage sales.) I got an 8-piece set of dishes for just over $6 and they were good lookin'...Also, try Home Depot for free living room side tables. They throw away those giant wooden spools they use to coil wire and chain. When I was just out of college and had NO money, I took home three of them, painted them and tied colorful scarves around their bases, and I had myself a cute set of tables for FREE!
