Nader Again: So What?Read the article this discussion is about
This archived discussion is "read only".
» H2O - We'll know after this weekend The National Green Party convention is in Milwaukee, WI, this weekend, meeting at the Midwest Airlines Center (they couldn't meet at a convention hall named after a "green" company?). The debate is whether to nominate Cobb--or endorse Nader. Are there any benefits to Nader is he is endorsed by two parties (since he has Reform's endorsement already)? Will members of those two parties petition for Nader to be on the ballot--or drive a "write-in" campaign? Interesting tactic by Ralph.Maybe you could look at another candidate in a future column, Harry Braun? His web site is http://www.braunforpresident.us./ You mention in your welcome statement that you would look at "left-of-center" politics. Have any "right-of-center" third parties existed? They might be worth exploring as part of the democratic dynamic in America. Earlier it looked like there would be no way that the Greens would endorse Nader - he even had asked that they not nominate him at one point. But, now that he's chosen CA Green Peter Camejo as his VP, it could be an interesting twist. I'll check out Braun's site and try to fit him into a candidate round-up in a future column. Thanks, - Ken

An interesting thing about third parties is that they grab issues not yet in the mainstream. Usually when the issue becomes "hot," then the Republicans or Democrats take it up as an issue and deflate the third party that first proposed it.
