New code base/Mud developing for wanna-be game developers: Re: I have dreams of making games. Do you?

» Dantessa - Re: I have dreams of making games. Do you? The easiest MU* programming language I have bumped into, save perhaps various custom/original ones, has to be LPC. LPMuds are unbelievably customisable, offering tremendous detail and potential for creative expansion. If you have any experience with the C programming language (including of course C++) then LP will be a piece of cake. And even if you don't, read a primer on C either in a book (the "C in 24 hours" series of books are really good) or on the WWW (try a Yahoo! search on "c tutorial"). You should be good to go in a matter of days, if you work hard, or a matter of weeks if you go slow. There are lots of LP Muds out there, one that I can think of off the bat that is still in beta & looking for coders is called "Phyndria." I don't have the URL offhand, but go to mudconnect.com and "Search" for the keyword Phyndria, it'll get you there. Dina -- posted by Dantessa
