» Tina_Coruth - Sounds like fun.

Sounds like fun. I don't think I would start with the paying one. I guess I should check your links for the free games, first. Good article. Thanks for the information!

And welcome to Suite101!

» Dantessa - Freeplay games

Thanks for the message!

I absolutely agree, if you are new to MUDs then starting with a freeplay game is a good idea. Whilst I do not have games categorized as freeplay (though it does give me an idea to cross-categorize freeplay games in a freeplay links section!), I do have occasional blurbs where a game is free to play.

Off the top of my head, great freeplay games that are newbie-friendly are Cardea ( http://www.cardea-rpg.com ), Aether ( http://www.mux.net/~aether ), and BlackMUD (Dark Fantasy genre, http://www.blackmud.com ).

Good luck & have fun!

» Wolvie27 - Something I noticed about the difference of Pay and Free

I noticed 'pay' caters to their players/customers. If a player wants to see something added to the game, if the demand for it is great enough, you'll see it in soon or the Imp runs the rick of losing players. Where as with the 'free', if the Imp doesn't like your wants, he doesn't have to listen, let alone actually do it. In fact, I've seen players banned for voicing their ideas on 'free' before.

On 'free' you are at the mercy of the folks who run the game. On 'pay' the folks who run the game have to learn supply and demand quick or have a failing venture, but that also depends on the business contract the player agrees to.

Well, there's my lil'addition to the discussion. Have a good hunt!
