» sugarmag - I remember ...

when Ricki Lake first came out. I was 17 and stayed at home with my son. I was watching one day and found myself so enraged with the topic of one of her shows that I wrote her the looooongest letter. The show was all about bashing teen mothers, and about how none of them are any good, and could someone please help these poor souls. Grrrrr .... I wrote my letter, left off plenty of steam, though staying completely professional, else risk feeding into the stereotype she was helping, and sent it. Needless to say, I'm sure, I never recevied a response. In essence, I asked her why she didn't look up some real teen moms and ask them the questions.

I hate those talk shows. They irk me to no end!

» sugarmag - Another post :)

Well, I was fed up after a week of different talk shows bashing teen parents, so I wrote an open letter to talk shows. I invite you to read it and share it - http://teenwithchild.com/article1050.html

the talk shows are a waste of everyones time yet i do watch them because i have nothing to do with my time. But then agian, the teenmothers that do go on there are helping the talk shows make their 'point' about teenmothers. It doesnt help that we get the teen mothers to go on the shows and go 'im such a slut and i slept with 11 boys and i dont know who the father of my baby is.' come on, the girls are dumb enough to do it so they are the ones who should be laughed at. Not us. We are smart enough not to sleep with that many guys and know who daddy is.

» Mami17 - Talk show

when I read this article i was thinking why is this lady complaining all she has to do is not watch it!!! And so what if there is a lot of teens who are pregnant or have kids that do or don't know who the father is,it is not her business anyway.

In response to Talk show posted by Mami17:

I don't think that she was complaining. She was merely making a point that for some reason society looks at things differently when teenage mothers are portrayed on these talk shows and not knowing who the baby's father is compared to adults who are pregnant or don't know who the father is. It is OK for adults not to know, but for a teenage mother - society looks at this differently.

She was, in fact, sticking up for teenage mothers not bashing them.

» krazynativeangel - My Thoughts...

I was reading the article teen mom stereotypes and I think those talk shows should reveal the positive side of teen pregnancy and teen mothers. Not all of them are bad. Most are tryin or already did turn they're lives around.
Peace n much love~1~AnGeL
